SAL approaches the body as a living landscape. Beneath the skin lie organs, neurological impulses, memories, emotions, and unconscious drives that surface in movement before thought can name them. The company’s work begins by bringing these invisible movements to the surface.

The name SAL combines the Korean word for “flesh” with the idea of a Subverted Anatomical Landscape. Rather than viewing the body as a fixed structure, SAL understands it as a shifting terrain where sensation, memory, desire, and instinct are constantly in motion.

For SAL, choreography is not the arrangement of movement but a way of revealing what is embedded within the body. Through movement, the company explores the relationship between physicality, memory, emotion, and human vulnerability. Its works confront darkness not as an end point, but as a passage toward the radiance that can only be found beyond it.

This pursuit is guided by SAL’s central philosophy: The Radiance of Liberated Humanity.

The company’s creative process is informed by MAGI, an original movement methodology developed by Jinho Bae. MAGI prioritises the body’s autonomous responses, investigating movement through heightened sensation, liberated impulse, and subconscious awareness.

SAL creates works that invite audiences into an encounter with the body’s hidden landscapes, awakening sensations, memories, and forces that exist beyond language.
